Dixie Carter doesn't want TNA talents to work GFW shows during days
when they aren't booked by TNA. I don't know if she can actually prevent
them from doing so, although I'm almost positive they'd have to get
permission to appear on TV for another promotion.
It's
possible there will be different talents working GFW's live events than
the TV show. I'm guessing Jarrett will build around a core group of
performers while having others rotate in and out. In other words, it's
set up a bit like the territory days. I'm interested to see how that
works out.
Chris Hero was backstage at the live episode of Impact. I hope he's being considered to work there if he's still got "it."
Update: Hero was visiting friends alongside former NXT employee Rob Naylor.
Everything else from Saturday is after the break.
Jim Ross blogged about Billy Corgan joining TNA:- I hope Corgan makes some solid changes.
- I'm really interested to see what Corgan has in store as far as the change in portrayals of faces and heels.
-
I couldn't agree more about a lot of a lot of moves just being for the
sake of cool moves. I usually refer to these matches as "demolition
derbies." They can be fun here and there, but I don't know what good
they do performers in the long run.
- I mostly
agree about mentioning other wrestling companies. It almost always makes
TNA look inferior when they have to brag about what someone did
elsewhere. It makes sense to laud someone for their accomplishments
elsewhere, but it shouldn't be dwelled on too much.
TNA's senior director of production is leaving at the end of May. Hopefully TNA can rebound from that.
TNA
is no longer working with Wrestle-1, but is seeking a bigger
relationship with AAA. It definitely wouldn't hurt them to try to
recruit more talents elsewhere. Especially with Corgan's idea of
developing future stars in the vein of NXT.
TNA is
trying to put together live events for late summer/early fall. That's a
good sign. Talents will appreciate having more dates and paychecks.
TNA
will have a live episode of Impact the Friday before Slammiversary.
That will hopefully give them a boost in momentum before the big PPV.
WWE interviewed new NXT signing Jessie McKay:
- I like how there's a dedication to showcase these future WWE stars.
- I'm glad we're seeing more female wrestlers involved these days.
- She's obviously very excited with her opportunity. I hope she makes the most of it!
Adam
Rose thanked the fans for their support following his E:60 appearance.
He's gotten a lot of buzz from it. That's great after so many years of
trying to get to the main roster.
Dixie Carter was
recently filmed for a potential reality series. I wonder what the roster
thinks of her doing that while people are behind on pay, looking for
more dates to work, etc.. I want a spin-off show focusing on Dixie's
heel character, personally. She was hysterical.
Billy Corgan was well-received backstage at TNA. That's good for both sides.
Taped for the May 15 Impact Wrestling:
-
The Wolves vs. The Dirty Heels (Austin Aries and Bobby Roode) in match
number one of a best-of-five series for the TNA Tag Team Championship
- Robbie E vs. Jessie Godderz
I'm
really interested to know what they're doing with the now-former
Bro-mans. Is one of them leaving? I don't know what they can really do
as singles stars. I'm willing to give them a shot, though.
Bully
Ray's appearance on the live edition of Impact was believed to be a
one-time appearance, although of course that could change if the two
sides come to terms. They could definitely use him to sell Slammiversary
as a big deal. But what price would he come with?
Velvet
Sky is expected back in TNA as a regular performer. She's one of the
most popular wrestlers there, so that's a good move for them on that
end.
TNA had a full house for the live edition of Impact Wrestling, which is good. Hopefully they can get some momentum.
Chef
Robert Irvine, Gail Kim's husband, was also backstage at the live
Impact. I almost want to see him get in a brawl with someone.
Here's a report from a recent NXT live event:
- There's no way they can have a Lina and a Lana. That would never fly.
- Tye Dillinger just doesn't seem very compelling. They've tried several different characters now.
- It's a shame Crowe hasn't caught on like they've hoped. People were pretty excited when he got signed.
For my take on Saturday's PWInsider.com questions:
1.
The company would have to do a complete change in philosophy to go back
to working with Playboy. I also don't see it happening anytime soon.
Nothing to add to 2.
Nothing to add to 3. That's a really great house compared to these days.
Nothing to add to 4.
5.
Slim to none! Unless he gets one last long match with Samoa Joe or
another opportunity that really interests him, I don't see him being
interested in returning to wrestling. Especially not full-time. And I
really doubt UFC would let him compete.
More wrestling coming up.
