The lineup for next week's NXT Takeover special, depending on injury statuses, is:
- NXT Championship: Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn
- #1 Contendership for the NXT Championship: Finn Balor vs. Tyler Breeze vs. Hideo Itami
- NXT Tag Team Championship: Blake and Murphy vs. Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady
- NXT Women's Championship: Sasha Banks vs. Becky Lynch
- Baron Corbin vs. Rhyno
- Emma and Dana Brooke vs. Charlotte and Bayley
It should be an amazing show.
WWE's upcoming Undertaker book will almost definitely focus on the character, not the person. Should be fun either way.
Everything else from yesterday is after the break.
Here's a long Renee Young interview. She's been a real hit since she hit the scene.
WWE interviewed another recent NXT signing. I already like this guy's personality. I look forward to seeing what he brings to the table.
- I think his varied experiences outside the ring will really help him.
- Personality will help him if he can make the wrestling end of things work out. That's how you stand out from the pack. They've got plenty of accomplished wrestlers. They need some entertainers as well.
- I like his philosophy of not doing a lot of big, fancy moves "just because." They need to tie into your performance.
Stardust did another interview in-character. He's really having fun with this. I was under the impression his WM31 outfit was a reference to Mr. Sinister.
Neither Sami Zayn nor Hideo Itami were at the NXT live event in Philadelphia. I hope Zayn can at least work Takeover. I don't think that's a realistic option for Itami.
Vince McMahon talked about C.M. Punk chants and more. Interesting thoughts.
Ronda Rousey talked again about working with WWE. I hope we do see her again.
Bayley talked about getting into wrestling and more. NXT has a number of really promising Diva prospects. The next few years should be great if they get support from Creative.
NXT in Philadelphia SOLD OUT. That's awesome. They've got something really special there.
Joey Styles was in attendance at NXT in Philly. That's pretty cool.
Update: Mick Foley was also there. NXT is a hot destination right now.
Update: Here's the card for the show. Interesting Divas' pairings given who's been face and heel on TV lately. Charlotte vs. Sasha headlining was surprising, but I'm sure they earned it.
For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. It's like that old game "telephone." Always, always, ALWAYS, check the original source. It's a real shame so many people believe the third-hand (or, worse, fourth, fifth, etc.) source instead of checking what was originally said. Information literacy is not nearly what it should be for some people.
2. I would have initially said TNA's, since it has a lot of matches from the likes of Sting, Kurt Angle, and Jeff Hardy. I don't know how much they'd really use either library without also having people like Angle and Hardy back in the fold, so they raise good points of using it for the likes of Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, etc.. We're definitely seeing more "ROH names" than "TNA names" pop up in WWE these days. I wonder what happens when Angle and the Hardys leave TNA (the have to retire from the ring eventually). I could see WWE being interested in purchasing TNA's assets if they hit rock-bottom and WWE wants to make money from the footage of former WWE Champions and Hall of Famers. As far as we know, TNA isn't headed for the gutter in the near future, so we won't find out anytime soon.
3. Team 3D would definitely rather go to WWE (or NJPW?). If ROH made the right offer, I could see 3D going there. But I don't see a big chance of it happening. I'd personally rather see the Dudleys work NXT as either singles names or a team, but I don't know if either WWE or the team would go for that.
4. I do think they were smart in who they put on the show as far as hitting several different generations' sweet spots. I'm personally pretty jaded about the concept of Tough Enough at this point, but I think it could be successful.
5. Adding some DG names to EVOLVE might be their best move as far as that goes.
More wrestling tomorrow.
