The Intercontinental and Tag Team Championships could be defended inside the Elimination Chamber at the end of the month. I think it really waters down the concept when people lower on the card are competing inside the structure. It should be saved for big feuds or big title matches. But hey, WWE just wants to throw big gimmicks out there to get Network buys. It might work on that count, but I think it makes it mean less when they bring the Chamber out on a whim instead of using it for big matches.
GFW put out a teaser for their first TV taping. I'm interested in what the four titles will be. I would imagine a World Title, Tag Team Titles, an "X-Division", and a Women's Title, but we'll see. I would think an hour a week wouldn't be enough to get over four titles, but it's worth giving them a shot. I have high hopes for GFW. It sounds like they've got good things in place.
Roderick Strong was backstage at a recent set of Impact Wrestling tapings. I'd be interested in how he'd do in TNA. It's been a while since we've seen him.
Everything else from yesterday is after the break.
Clearvision in the UK has ended their DVD deal with TNA. TNA still puts out a few DVDs here and there. They'll still be sold on the TNA website.
Goldust will be undergoing shoulder surgery this week. I hope he's still got some good matches in him, even if they're on live events and/or in NXT.
Jimmy Wang Yang was visiting at Raw. TNA or GFW should take a look at him if WWE doesn't want him for NXT. I miss him.
"Hacksaw" Jim Duggan has been brought into GFW as a legend to help promote their live event tour. I hope adding him to things helps the company out.
Daniel Bryan is headed right back to physical therapy. I hope he can come back strong and regain the WWE Title. That's easier said than done, though.
Raw's audience Monday was 3.69 million. That number is up from last week.
WWE canceled its SC live event set for May 31 so the whole roster can be at the Elimination Chamber PPV. The company has made a Raw taping there in November has a makeup date.
Fandango beat Tyler Breeze before Smackdown. I wonder if we'll see the NXT name called up soon.
For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. I would watch the hell out of Brock vs. Mayweather. There's a valid concern about a "UFC name" facing a boxer on a WWE PPV, but that would be a HUGE box office draw. If that's not a possibility (and I would assume it's not), I think Rock, Batista, Orton, or Bryan would make sense as opponents.
2. I think it can work. It's probably about time to do something new with both Rusev and Lana after four straight PPVs facing Cena. If they really wanted to, they could "expose" her as actually being American and go from there. I think fans would embrace her, especially if Rusev pulls a "Daniel Bryan after 18 seconds" and blames her for losing the U.S. Title.
3. He should book himself to win the IWC Title as its top heel. He shouldn't be physically harmed at all for his opinion. I can see where he's coming from. He's not saying Zayn isn't a good wrestler. He's saying he might not appeal to the mass audience who wants to see the soap opera aspects. We'll see if he's right once Zayn is on the main roster full-time.
4. If anything, Ambrose is the odd one out. Orton beat Rollins at WM31 after Rollins put him on the shelf for months, and Reigns was "robbed" of the title when Rollins cashed in. Ambrose's addition was kind of a last-minute thing, and he's really dropped down the card since last time he headlined a PPV. I get people want a big Shield reunion in the main event, but Orton's earned his spot there.
5. I think KOTR was something they threw together at the last minute to get eyeballs on the Network. That's pretty much your answer. And people would complain if he had beaten Neville, so it's a no-win situation.
More wrestling tomorrow.
