GFW update, Jericho podcast update, NXT name having surgery?, live event notes, and Questions on Balor's main roster debut, staying in NXT, Punk returning, Hardy's accident, and Francine

GFW will be holding a press conference in Las Vegas this week to make an announcement regarding their TV tapings in July. Hopefully we finally get some talent announcements.

WWE is holding a poll for whom the next guest on Chris Jericho's podcast should be. Shane McMahon is listed, which is bound to get people talking. That alone would be worth the $9.99 a month.

Alex Riley tweeted about having surgery following being powerbombed by Kevin Owens. It is currently unknown whether this is storyline. If you're not watching NXT, you need to be.

Billy Gunn teamed with Finn Balor against Kevin Owens and Tyler Breeze at an NXT show this weekend. That's a cool surprise. Where was Sami Zayn?

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.
Here's a story on Friday's WWE live event. I think it's awesome kids still get wrapped up in the stories like I did.

Sami Zayn beat Erick Rowan in Ontario, which is weird considering they're both faces. Are they thinking of making Rowan heel again, maybe reuniting the Family? We'll see.

Charlotte beat Naomi on that same live event. Naomi once again had Tamina with her. I feel like Zayn and Charlotte have done a lot of main roster live events without being called up. Hopefully that changes soon. I'm wondering exactly when Zayn should be called up. It shouldn't be too close to Neville's debut since they're pretty similar competitors (unless, of course, they're going to be a team). There's also Balor to consider. He's getting pretty ripe for the picking, as well.

Here are results from a recent NXT live event. I wonder why Billy just worked the one show?

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. I think that could be great! Cena lost to Angle in his first match, but made one hell of a showing in the process that stuck with fans. That's way more important than winning or losing. I mean, The New Day and The Ascension racked up a lot of wins and it hardly made them stars. I would like for someone like Balor or Zayn to be the one to take the title from Cena to end the challenge. Cena could make it an awesome match, too.

2. Yeah, ask CJ Parker how great it is to stay in NXT forever. They can make a lot more money on the main roster, and WWE can make a lot more money on them. While of course they could end up being misused on the main roster, that's kind of a chance they have to take if they want to make it in the big leagues.

3. I could see Punk MAYBE returning for the WM main event or to work with Joe, but I think he'd be equally content to stay away from WWE forever given the legal issues between the two sides. I think he'd have to get a deal like Brock to seriously consider it. In other words, don't hold your breath.

Update: After submitting this post, I remembered Punk is currently being sued by WWE's doctor, and is under contract to UFC. So the chances of him returning are pretty much nil.

4. I can see the argument to add such a clause, but I'd think Hardy has enough leeway to do pretty much whatever he wants in TNA. I mean, he got to do Willow. That took some real pull.

Nothing to add to 5. She's moved on from wrestling.

More wrestling tomorrow.
