New WWE trademark, Punk updates, Cabana on court trial, Rock at WWE presentation, WWE:UK GM named, Summerslam DVD lineup, WWE:UK and NXT signings, Batista Hidden Gem added, CMLL working with outsiders, AAA changes, WWE:UK names barred from indie, WOS looking to tour, ROH matches set, ROH injury, more wrestling names at Johnny Impact wedding, WWE interested in top Impact star, Impact attendance, WWE titleholder working hurt, MYC dates set, WWE names at SDCC, WWE ad campaign gets press, lucha comic coming, another business venture for Paige?, Miz on sports, and Questions on Amann's future, ROH managers, dropping the Knockouts name, filming surgeries, the Cena/Nikki relationship, and wrestlers' attires being approved

WWE has applied to trademark "WWE VIP" for television and entertainment purposes, so they'll be using that terminology for something in the near future.

C.M. Punk sang "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" for the Chicago Cubs to promote tomorrow's UFC bout.

- Punk's coach has indicated Punk will continue in MMA regardless of the outcome of his second fight. That may or may not be in UFC.

Colt Cabana discussed his recent court trial on his latest podcast. I'm glad Punk and Cabana can move on with their lives now.

The Rock appeared as part of WWE's Emmy presentation. WWE definitely put their best forward at the event, pushing the women's evolution and Mixed Match Challenge.

WWE:UK has named Johnny Saint as its general manager. That's a good move to add credibility to the proceedings. Interestingly, four of WWE's five brands now have a British authority figure.

WWE's Summerslam DVD's lineup has been revealed. I'm curious if WWE will do something special for the anniversary at the event itself. They could do a 30-man battle royal with wrestlers who've competed at previous events to win a trophy if they wanted, although I'd see why they'd rather focus on their current workers.

NXT has signed former rugby star Luke Menzies. It's interesting he's headed there instead of the UK brand; it could be they don't think he's ready for that stage yet.

Batista (as Leviathan) vs. Kane from OVW in 2001 was added to WWE Network's Hidden Gems collection. It's always funny to see matches with people who later became bigger stars.

CMLL is using major outside talents despite their long rivalry with AAA. This is being compared to a star working both a WWF and WCW PPV during the Monday Night War. It's led to better attendance, so good for CMLL for branching out.

- Konnan, AAA's current booker, is willing to cross-promote with them, as well. That would be great!

Triplemania will air on AAA's Twitch channel again.

Dr. Wagner, Jr. is expected to finish up with AAA now that he's no longer champion and Konnan isn't interested in pushing his son.

Brian Cage is now working AAA. He's doing well with being on the map in both the U.S. in Mexico.

Toni Storm's WWE:UK deal allows her to still work Stardom when not needed for WWE dates. I hope she has big things coming.

WWE:UK stars are unable to work with Revolution Pro Wrestling due to that company working with NJPW. That can really hurt RevPro's roster, since obviously NJPW remains largely based out of Japan.

Jinny has signed a WWE:UK deal, necessitating her dropping her women's title in RevPro. I hope she's able to get regular work to make up for that.

WWE:UK is using a number of talents on "extended tryouts," granting WWE exclusivity while determining whether or not to sign them to full contracts. Charlie Morgan, Nina Samuels, Mark Coffey, and Wildboar are under this kind of deal. I can't find a bio for Wildboar, but one would think if he gets more work on the WWE:UK brand, his profile will increase.

WOS is looking to tour the UK if their limited TV series is a success. This could be a really big project with big effects on that scene.

Jerry Lynn will be a special referee at All In. That's awesome.

Cody vs. Shane Taylor is booked for ROH's June 16 Texas event. I look forward to that.

Bully Ray vs. Flip Gordon is official for Best in the World. This a is a good opportunity for Flip. I hope they don't kill his momentum in favor of a guy still clinging on to the spotlight.

Shane "Hurricane" Helms is booked for upcoming ROH events. More in tomorrow's news post. That's a nice get for the company.

Alex Shelley was concussed at ROH's most recent TV taping after colliding with Frankie Kazarian during a six-man tag. He also had chipped teeth. I hope he's able to return soon.

DDP, Dolph Ziggler, and Justin Roberts were also at Johnny Impact's wedding to Taya Valkyrie. That's a cool mix.

WWE is interested in Eli Drake, who is still negotiating with Impact. I really wonder about his chances in NXT given how stacked they are now.

Impact's Ontario tapings drew 600 fans, although some of those fans were there on free tickets. Of course, they can't charge for tickets at Universal Studios, so at least they got a gate here.

Jeff Hardy is working with a pinched nerve. Ouch. I hope that's safe for him and his opponents. It's notable the U.S. Title is absent from MITB hype.

The Mae Young Classic will tape on August 8 and August 9 in Full Sail. So, they're going to do the same format as last year.

Matt Hardy and Zack Ryder are set for San Diego Comic-Con. They're perfect for that.

WWE's water campaign with Nestle got press. Their PG focus has really benefited them with advertisers.

A lucha comic featuring Rey Mysterio, Konnan, Pentagon, Jr., Rey Fenix, and others has been announced, joining Lucha Underground comic books from the same company. That's pretty awesome. Lucha is a perfect fit for comics.

Paige sought input on a makeup line. She already has a clothing store.

The Miz was on ESPN's "First Take." He's becoming a Cleveland icon.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. He was upset by the fan chants and tweets and thought Punk and Cabana should have to pay for starting it all. I doubt he feels good after such a long journey didn't result in him getting any compensation. I don't think WWE put him up to it. If anything this just drew further attention to the podcast and Punk's complaints.

2. I'm not sure what Nana's doing, although he's still on good terms with ROH. Martini was dropped after being injured for a good while.

3. Hmm. Interesting idea. I don't know if it would really help them gain any fans to go that route. It's something to look at down the line, but it doesn't seem like a big priority.

4. I imagine WWE specifically uses Andrews because, in addition to his skills, he allows them to film his procedures. I don't think the hospitals get paid for it.

5. Hahahahahaah. I think it's building to a wedding ring on a pole match at SeasonFinaleSlam.

6. WWE tightly controls wrestlers' appearances, since the image needs to be consistent with video games, action figures, etc.

More wrestling tomorrow.
