Super Smackdown preview- 8/30/11

Tonight's a pretty big deal for Smackdown with 4 announced matches, so I'm doing a preview for it. Read on for how I'd book the matches set for it.

To me, the goal here is to build Smackdown stars where applicable, and continue/add to current feuds. With that in mind:

C.M. Punk gets the win over The Great Khali. The announcers put over Khali's size and how this is similar to the problems Punk's had with Nash. They speculate that he won't be able to get the win via Go To Sleep, and if he's not able to pull that off on someone that big, then they can have him wear down Khali for a big win via Anaconda Vise. Nash comes out from the entrance way to stare Punk down after the match. On Raw, the Board of Directors, persuaded by John Laurinaitis (who signed Nash to a big deal that they'll want to honor- including PPV appearances) , reverse Triple H's decision and we get back on to Punk vs. Nash at Night of Champions.

John Cena finds that Wade Barrett has stepped up his game since they last crossed paths, and is out for blood against the man who was such a thorn in Nexus' side. Barrett puts up a fight, and gets the win via Wasteland when Alberto Del Rio and Ricardo Rodriguez try to run interference. Del Rio smiles and winks at the #1 Contender.

Speaking of Del Rio, earlier in the night he goes up against the very game Sin Cara, who despite being a "rookie" by WWE standards has an impressive showing against the champion. Del Rio gets the win, though, preferably through nefarious means. I envision it looking like Del Rio MIGHT be able to beat Cara on his own, but cheating to make sure of the fact.

As for the main event, as much as I like Christian, I'm tired of the ping-pong game with Orton over the title. Orton wins over an increasingly frustrated Christian, but ends the night trapped in the cage with Mark Henry. Not 100% after the cage match, he's not as much of a challenge as he would be normally. Henry deals some damage to him with a World's Strongest Slam, but stops short of putting him through the cage so he can "have something left" to take the title from. He puts Orton on notice that he could have injured him if he so chose.

And that's basically the gist of what they've announced. I'll be back later for coverage of Smackdown and NXT. Thanks for reading!
