Today's notes start off with a spoiler in regards to a big return to TNA:
Jeff Hardy posted on Twitter that he'll be returning to the company at the next set of Impact Wrestling tapings. His legal status is unchanged. It doesn't look good that a top star might end up in rehab or jail if the cards fall that way, but they're thinking about the money they think he'll still be able to draw. Time will tell whether or not this risk pays off for them.

PWInsider.com has some new questions up to gander at:
1. This one's a pretty popular "what if". I remember things differently from them, and people who were privy to the WCW purchase do as well. A lot of those stars WWE "could have gotten" might not have played too well in a system without guaranteed contracts and likely working more shows than they did "down South". They could have either signed on with WWE, likely taken a pay cut from what AOL Time Warner gave them, and not been as big of a deal as they used to be (by having more credible competition in the company), or sit at home, possibly let any injuries and bumps heal up, and make whatever was left on those guaranteed deals (that weren't included in the purchase). A number of those people had bad reputations in the asylum of WCW anyway. Heck, a lot of the good talents had already jumped ship some time previously!

As for the actual booking of the storyline, WWE "won" 3 PPVs to 2. Shane McMahon "bought" WCW in March and the WWE "put it out of business" in November. There were notable WWE stars on the WCW side to even things up, since a good number of the people bought weren't considered ready for such a big angle and were put in developmental. And running WCW as its own entity's farfetched since no network wanted to touch it. Why would they sabotage Smackdown (as some have suggested) by turning it into a brand people were fleeing from left and right? ECW was added to the mix in July, before the initial Invasion PPV.

And of course there's the core problem... why would WWE fans, most of whom made a conscious decision to not watch WCW, want to see a bunch of WCW on "their" wrestling show? I hope that sheds some light on things.

After the break, I go into the rest of the day's news and questions, starting with Zack Ryder.
2. Yes, Ryder has. That's why he's the assistant GM on Smackdown and featured more often on Superstars. I think he could be used more, but that's certainly nothing to scoff at.

3. I was a big Hardy fan back in the day, but I think it's way too soon to consider them as possible Hall of Famers. Even without their out-of-the-ring problems, their post-WWE years have been somewhat unspectacular. Though the two are surely related. As for WWE considering putting them in the Hall, it will be a LONG time given their TNA history, off-screen issues and how relatively recent their careers are.

I don't have anything to add to #4, so I'm moving on:
5. I seem to remember reading that he was going into some non-wrestling endeavors, but would continue to work the indies. I know he left TNA due to conflicts over bookings of indy dates, so presumably that's the direction he wants to go wrestling-wise. It looks like it will be a while (if not permanently) before we see him in one of the major promotions given how he chose to leave both of them.

Matt Hardy has also been charged with reckless driving at some point prior to his recent incident. He goes to court over that on 10/11.

The full episode of CMT's "Made" with Matt Morgan is online.

Matt Hardy has boosted his ranking on the Charlie Sheen scale with some Twitter comments.

WWE.com has a storyline interview with Rey Mysterio about his injury and how it relates to Alberto Del Rio.

New TNA signee "Mr. Pec-tecular" will be on the Dick at Night Show on RTVZone.com this Thursday talking about Big Brother 13.

In Australia this past week, Raw did 29,000 viewers and Smackdown did 24,000. As always, the other shows didn't crack the top 100. Not bad numbers for there.

As announced on NXT, Bret Hart will be the guest GM of Smackdown in his hometown of Calgary. Other Hart family members are in attendance. That might be interesting, though Hart's not exactly Mr. Excitement in 2011.

The Associated Press has picked up the story of Matt Hardy's DWI arrest.

WWE's new corporate hiring could lead to more distribution on mobile phones and other "nontraditional" outlets. That will be a pretty big deal in the future.

Anyone buying a TNA action figure from Toys-R-Us will be able to enter the Huntsville, AL Impact Wrestling taping for free.

WWE.com has a video reintroducing Kevin Nash to the WWE audience. It's certainly a problem when a lot of fans just see him as an older, less mobile guy who used to hang with Triple H. If he's returning to the ring, we need to know why that's important enough to tune in for/spend money on.

WWE's tentatively thinking of keeping Summerslam in Los Angeles next year for more hobnobbing with celebrities and TV appearances. Works for me as long as the crowd there's still good.

WWE "analyzed" John Laurinaitis' gestures on Raw to see if he might have been lying. Of course, it was inconclusive.

Mick Foley is going further in talks with WWE. They're at the point of seeing what schedule and role would be the best fit. He says that he could still have some big matches in him. He'll have to really get in good ring shape to perform well enough to make me forget about his last however many "big matches".

Here's a fun piece where WWE performers talk about their rankings in WWE 12.

Raw did a 3.0 on Monday. Maybe having a relic like Kevin Nash and an inside reference like Johnny Ace isn't the direction storylines need to go in?

Chris Jericho has scheduled more Fozzy tour dates in November, so a return to the ring continues to not appear to be in the cards.

Independent wrestler Sterling James Keenan (which is a pretty awesome name) has signed on to WWE. He's already in FCW. Cool. Hopefully he's good and makes money for them.

The former New Age Outlaws are now on Facebook.

As mentioned on NXT, Todd Grisham has finished up with WWE. He will soon begin at ESPN. He wasn't the most excitable commentator on the roster, but I liked him in places. I wish him the best in his upcoming job. I'm personally hoping that Scott Stanford's his replacement on NXT.

That's all for Tuesday's news. More to come tomorrow. Thanks for reading!
