Lucha stars get WWE tryouts, another Angle interview, Big Show and Edge appearances, house show moved, Questions on JR, Goldberg, and Maven, Douglas Williams seminar, TNA releases and roster changes, press release on Prichard's roles, Aussie ratings, early take on Hall on E:60, Raw rating, Abyss at Scream Awards, and more about PPVs on the upcoming WWE Network

A number of performers for AAA, EMLL, and other smaller Mexican promotions, got tryouts at this week's WWE tapings. No specific names are known as of yet. As big as WWE is down there compared to the top Mexican companies, I can't blame them for wanting to jump ship. If there's another Mysterio, Del Rio, or Sin Cara down there, that'd be a big coup for the company. Those are big hopes, though. We'll see what comes of it and who, if anyone, gets picked up in the future.

Kurt Angle talked retirement, the Olympics, and his goals in TNA before Bound For Glory. There's definitely a lot of work to go on some of those fronts!

Big Show is in Japan doing promotion work for WWE. He's a great ambassador for the company.

Edge will be promoting WWE '12 at Paris Games Week on 10/22. He'll have more appearances this weekend.

WWE moved a South Carolinian house show from 12/10/11 to 5/19/12.

After the break, I go into a look at PWInsider.com's questions, starting with why JR came back to Raw this week.

1. That's not quite what the story was. Laurinaitis fired him, then brought him back to humiliate him because... well, he's a jerk and doesn't like JR. They're trying to get heat on the relatively new character of Laurinaitis.

2 is specifically for them and there's nothing to add to 3, so on to 4. After they ended the streak, he took a backseat to said politicians. As for using him after the streak, like a lot of things in WCW (and wrestling in general), they didn't have a good followup for him. He was still popular for the most part until they turned him heel. The last couple of years in WCW were criticized for a bunch of direction changes, quick title reigns, etc. and nothing really "stuck" so people got over less and less. Fans turned to WWF instead and never looked back.

5. I agree that he got a pretty decent chance. I liked him a fair amount, but like they said, when you push someone a lot relatively quickly when they aren't ready, you can really shoot yourself in the foot, as we've seen happen a number of times over the years. I hope they're more careful with Andy. Apparently he still wrestles on the indy scene and is on the Home Shopping Network as an exercise expert. I saw a promo for that once and hardly recognized him with hair!

Douglas Williams will be part of a wrestling seminar on 10/22 in North Andover, MA.

TNA removed a number of names from its roster. Sangriento, a character portrayed by the departed Amazing Red, made sense to cut. Suicide hadn't been used in quite some time either (it varied who was under the mask). I had forgotten than Okada/Okato was even there, so he was just taking up space, too. Murphy hadn't been used in months, so he was a prime candidate for being cut too. No real loss.

Here's the official press release for Bruce Prichard's new roles in TNA. He's certainly becoming an important part of the company now. I wonder where things will go under his watch.

New Australian ratings are in. There's a noticeable change. All previously reported ratings were just from metropolitan areas. Ratings now include both those in addition to regional areas. So, under the new ratings, Raw was #23 in the top 100 with 67,000 viewers and Smackdown was #46 with 54,000 viewers. NXT, Superstars, and Impact Wrestling all air there as well, but have yet to crack the top 10 shows. Good numbers for the shows that did make it.

Here's an early review of the Scott Hall-centered episode of E:60. Very sad to read.

Raw drew a 3.1 on Monday. Without last week's big hook, it was bound to drop. It consistently improved upon the second hour of last week's show, so there is good news here. So much for a lot of those people "never watching again" after one of the "worst Raws ever".

Abyss appeared at Spike TV's Scream Awards, in a mask and torn tuxedo no less. I love it. The video mistakenly links him to WWE.

There was another survey released by WWE asking if fans would be willing to change cable providers to get access to the WWE Network. It seems now that the "top 4" PPVs (Royal Rumble, Wrestlemania, Summerslam, and Survivor Series) are not on the table for being put on the channel. That can of course change over time. I'm very interested in how that idea would turn out financially.

That's all for Tuesday's news. More to come tomorrow. Thanks for reading!
