NXT thoughts- 10/26/11

Today on WWE NXT, Titus O'Neil and Derrick Bateman finally get a chance to win a WWE contract. Just kidding! The never-ending quest for redemption is still going on. The goal is presumably still to earn a spot on Season 6, and both men will continue to try to do that. I'm sure there will be plenty of other appearances and shenanigans , too. Read on for my thoughts on the show as it happens.
Two rookies left. What's that mean for Darren Young?

Bateman's a suave jerk. I like it.

Wait, what's the goal of this show now? Does the winner get to the main roster instead of next season? They kind of hinted that.

Ahh, talk the talk. The go-to challenge when you can't think of anything else.

Not really a fan of the Southern accent.

Meh, not bad. He's better when he's not in something like this.

Titus was alright I guess. Nothing too enthusiastic or original, but the crowd's getting behind that dog back.

Those feuds are fine with me.

I mean, neither were The Rock on the mic, but I liked them alright.

A commercial during a commercial. How meta.

Percy's got a nice little repertoire getting built.

Percy vs. JTG would be a better Talk The Talk.

Fine little match-up. I'd like to see Percy enter the competition officially. The finisher was a little rough, but I like the name.

Who put down the suspension if Striker's the messenger (who can still make matches)?

Are the Muppets popular with kids these days?

The Usos music has lyrics now!

There are rumors that Batista is in WWE '12.

Did I miss what happened to Tyler Reks in this angle?

I hope we do too!

The Usos can go.

If that's true about Kidd and the Usos learning that's awesome.

If that's true about Regal, that's awesome, too. I don't have a problem with talents texting and the like as long as they're improving and working as well.

This show's becoming good for straightforward good wrestling.

Ha. I was just wondering where Yoshi was.

They're actually teasing an end to the season. I never thought I'd see the day.

Awesome Cena/Rock package.

That does being up the question of how Cena could pick someone not under contract...

NXT used to be fun!

AJ and Kaitlyn backstage. Always fun to see.

I liked Tamina's promo.

I was just at Wal-mart and I don't remember seeing that DVD.

Kaitlyn didn't really dominate Season 3... a lot of us were surprised she made it even halfway through given her lack of experience.

Kaitlyn's grown a good deal in the past year. Her in-ring mannerisms in particular are impressive.

Well, she didn't exactly bust her face, but she did get the win. Nice showing from someone who's barely been in WWE a year.

Does AJ have new music?

It's like a running gag where people get new music.

AJ's even adorable on commentary.

Oh, right. The match.

Kiss the fish chant? NXT ladies and gentlemen.

BETAMAX!!!! I love it!

I'm going to go to the conclusion that it's for a spot on the main roster now.

Very impressive showing by Bateman. Titus was fine, too.

Hey, NXT Season 3 was on TV for 4 episodes, so it could work. I think they met in FCW though?

This show is amazing. Crazy amazing, but amazing.

Trainwreck TV is back.

Even though it's apparently back to being a farce, here are my rankings:
Derrick Bateman- 4. Bateman was incredibly entertaining this week in his own bizarre way. His opening promo wasn't great, but his character has been a LOT of fun to watch recently. The only thing keeping me from putting him at a 5 is the feeling that this week could have just been the magical right combination of things that won't align again in the future. Still, A-. If he keeps going this way, he'll be headed to the main roster.

Titus O'Neil-  4. There must have been something in the air in Houston. Titus was smartly utilized this week, and even with an admittedly monotone voice, he's gotten the crowd behind him. His power game's working for him when he just needs to work brief matches. I'll put him around a B. If he does better in the weeks to come, that B will be inching towards an A. It's a tough level to reach, but if he can do what he does well and either avoid or improve what he doesn't do as well, it's not entirely out of his grasp.

If I had to eliminate someone, it would be: Titus O'Neil. Bateman's earned the shot as of this week.

That's all for NXT. I'll be back tomorrow for Superstars and Impact Wrestling. A news post will be up shortly. Thanks for reading!
