Raw thoughts- 10/10/11

The show must go on. Despite the walking out of the majority of the WWE roster, COO Triple H has elected to continue with tonight's show. John Cena, Randy Orton, C.M. Punk, Big Show, and Sheamus will all be appearing. Meanwhile, the disgruntled superstars who voted No Confidence will be holding a Solidarity Rally. Which side will blink in WWE's largest-ever labor dispute? Read on for my thoughts on the show as it happens.

I guess some camera people did show up at least.

This is kind of weird looking. Good thing that whomever does the graphics, lighting, and music stuck around. Whatever happened to that guy Mark Henry threw?

I still kind of wonder why the babyfaces walked out. I guess they buy that someone's screwing HHH behind the scenes.

Passionate HHH promo. I'm not crazy about him painting the wrestlers out as whiners, but presumably that'll be addressed when we hear from the ralliers.

So weird not hearing commentators.

Did the anonymous GM walk out, too?

At least Sheamus acknowledges his past with HHH.

Solid Punk promo. Glad this guy's finally getting the mic more.

Didn't see them going to that match-up tonight.

I like the start of this show, different as it is.

What's he doing here? He was relieved of his duties!

This is one of the craziest Raw episodes in recent memory. It's definitely different.

I just noticed that they got out of having Cena or Sheamus lose that match. Clever.

The poor Anonymous GM doesn't even get to lead the show in the interim. Unless it was Laurinaitis the whole time...

I'm a little surprised that the superstars are ok with HHH staying on as COO, but it makes sense that they would be since they worked Smackdown with Long in charge and house shows as long as HHH wasn't in attendance.

Oh, heel Cole.

At first I was going to say that Morrison being in a match was a good sign for his future, but after that beatdown I'm not so sure.

Who would have thought that one-half of the Dynamic Dudes would be an important executive in 2011?

Who's on the board of directors in storyline anyway?

True, Henry and Big Show have been in WWE for over a decade each. They've taken plenty of bumps and are both hovering around the age of 40. General logic would dictate that they shouldn't be headlining PPVs. All that said, Henry's doing the best work of his career and Show looks like he could be rejuvenated as well So, I'm taking a stance of hopeful optimism on that match. They've at least earned a shot at showing us  that they've still got it.

Cena vs. Sheamus and Henry vs. Orton are two pretty big matches to be giving away with not much hype. If you put matches of that magnitude on the weekly shows, what's left for PPVs?

This show continues to be odd. On one hand, I'm glad they protected Henry going into his big title defense. On the other, there's only so much leeway for run-ins and other "non-finishes". Rhodes got to work with two of the top stars of the company, so maybe it all turns out well in the end. Rhodes got to stand tall, Orton only went down because of two finishers and interference, and Henry didn't take a pinfall loss.

Rhodes is creepily entertaining. He continues to earn a spot higher up on the card.

Come to think of it, there's a good amount of potential in Rhodes vs. Orton. Orton can hardly blame him for taking a similar psychopath turn that Orton himself took!

That PS3 commercial was something. Speaking of which, I should go rent God Of War Origins.

I hope the people who wanted more in-ring time for the Divas division are watching.

Not a bad match. More ruthless aggression than you'd think.

I bet that account will get some interesting tweets!

Laurinaitis isn't exactly Mr. Personality.

Oh shi- JR's in trouble.

Being against JR is instant heel heat.

They're making a movie about a candy bar?

Air Boom's doing pretty well for two guys seemingly thrown together.

I wonder what McGillicutty thinks of Otunga's new business relationships.

Here are those new stars who supposedly don't get featured.

Sweet powerbomb spot.

Fine match-up. The long road to being a headliner continues for these guys, who are gaining experience working the midcard.

Cole always calls it "dot com" for some reason. Cool idea nonetheless.

Someone obviously likes Brodus Clay. I've enjoyed him in smallish doses.

That theme song sounds pretty bad, but I like the first two matches set for Vengeance.

Looks like The Thing's joining Paranormal Activity 3 on my list of things to see.

Sean C. as in (Michael) Sean Coulthard?

Supposedly JR walked out because he needed to use the bathroom last week.

This is the craziest edition of Raw I can remember in quite a while.

YES! THEY'RE BBBAAAAAAAAAAAAACCCCKKK!!!!

Ok, so that was a little overenthusiastic. I like both of them and am glad we'll see more of them, though.

I'm actually enjoying the sort-of shades of gray here. We don't see it much in WWE, so it stands out more.

Del Rio remains a jerk heel.

Will the online fans complain about SuperPunk if he beats the odds here?

BAH GAWD HE'S THE COO!!!

Another awesome ending to Raw. They continue to make me want to see what happens next, which is their job.

Though, a caveat, I'm a little iffy about HHH being such a big part of things. I think it could work out. Give it time.

Three pretty solid matches set up (or close to being set up) for Vengeance. WWE continues to be more hit than miss.

That's all for Raw. I'll be back Wednesday for NXT, and a news post will be up later tonight. Thanks for reading!
