WWE Vengeance preview

Tonight's card features a number of major matches. Both the WWE and World Titles are on the line, and the COO is in action against two superstars he fired. His partner is a man he had a war against last month. Plenty of combustible elements at play tonight. Read on for how I'd book the show.

I personally think this show has a lot of potential. Good showings in the ring and good booking could really elevate some people. It's not an easy process building new stars and telling good stories at times, but WWE has the chance to do some of both tonight.

Anyway, let's start off with the Divas' match. WWE's done a commendable job so far in moving this division away from being the "bathroom break" part of the show. Has it been perfect? No. Are there more people I'd like to see involved and booked well? Yes. But it seems like they're on the right path. The goal as I see it is to build up credible Divas on both sides of the coin. Plus, this storyline's too good to end right now. Beth retains, but Eve surprises her and likely quite a few fans with her fighting spirit and (hopefully) ring prowess that we don't get to see in 2 minute matches. Eve beats Kelly Kelly and (Laurinaitis' favorites) The Bella Twins in a #1 Contenders match to get a rematch at Survivor Series. We see more of "who Eve is" in the personality department with videos of her training in jiu-jitsu and the like so she isn't just Face Diva #3.

Air Boom successfully defends the titles against Ziggler and Swagger. I enjoy the heels, but I think Air Boom should get more time with the gold. Ziggler blames the loss on having to focus on 3 opponents tonight. Swagger takes the pin, because Ziggler's taken about 9000 of them lately.

And he'll take another one in the U.S. Title match. Naturally, Ziggler sees this as a "fluke" and he "shouldn't have even had to face" Ryder. He goes on a diatribe against the likes of Bourne, Kingston, and Ryder in future interviews. This man needs some heat. As for him losing twice tonight, don't worry. It's all building to something better for him to be detailed further down.

Sheamus has the upper hand on Christian until the latter gets frustrated and attacks him with a pipe stashed under the ring. Observant fans will note that this is the same weapon Miz and R-Truth used during HHH/Punk. There's a reason for that...

Cody Rhodes puts up the fight of his life against Orton, but the veteran instincts of the former World Champion prevent him from getting the win. Instead of losing (by pinfall, anyway), he savagely attacks Orton over and over with his mask, looking to cause Orton to need stitches like he did.

The Miz, R-Truth, Triple H, and C.M. Punk brawl all over the place. The referees are pretty lax with this one given what Miz and Truth have done to them in the recent past. Kevin Nash comes back to screw over HHH and Punk.

Mark Henry is challenged more than he has been for the entirety of his current storyline, but eventually gets the win over Big Show. It's close, so Long books another round at Survivor Series.

Finally, Alberto Del Rio shows his vicious side in his match with John Cena, doing everything in his (and Rodriguez's) power to keep him down for 10. Nash, Miz, and Truth storm in and attack Cena to make sure he doesn't get the title back. Del Rio wins.

The aftermath is that Kevin Nash forms a new nWo with Miz, R-Truth, Del Rio, and Christian. They look to shake things up for those who are tired of those like Cena, HHH, and Orton having the spotlight. Nash tries to get Punk involved, but no dice. The first big clash between the sides is at Survivor Series, when we get those 5 up against Rock, Cena, HHH, Punk, and Sheamus. Note that the latter team has had issues between its members. That would come into play in the weeks leading to the match and the match itself.

The new nWo gets a new logo, new merchandise and so on. The only link with the old group is that Nash put it together to shake things up. Ziggler and Swagger eventually earn their way in by getting the Tag Team Titles. Cody Rhodes, and maybe Mark Henry join as well (since Big Show's kind of part of the "establishment", too). As for their opposition, Punk disagrees with how they've gone about their ways, and Sheamus wants to prove himself. Rock wants Cena for himself. The others should be obvious.

The end goal is to get more people over all over the card, with the nWo and its opposition getting elevated. People like Nash, HHH, Show, etc. are there for the younger, newer talents to play off of and get the rub from. Laurinaitis pulled the strings to get the nWo back into things. The Board of Directors allows this to take place, since the clashes between the sides are good for business and making the company money. Not to mention that David Otunga has some legal expertise that make it all possible.

So, that's how I'd do the show in a nutshell. I'll be back later tonight for how the show actually goes down. Thanks for reading!
