More on JR angle, multiple Questions on the current WWE angles, more of Hogan "helping" TNA, WWE preparing to release Q3 info, Impact Wrestling preview, Legends reality show, Slater suspended, Hart interview, Holly working on autobiography, McMahons, Hogan, and Rhodes talk Scott Hall, Angle and A-Ry hurt, and Smackdown's rating

There are a number of newsworthy tweets Jim Ross made about returning to Raw among other things. It's also recapped here. Certainly words to think about. The line between wrestling and sports entertainment continues to be a point of contention for a lot of people. The announcers argue way too much, but that might not be related. The whole goal is to get the story and conflict over (and sell the product). I think it's fundamentally different from say, football, in that regard.

Update: He also blogged about Raw.

WWE.com posted a video of Ross backstage during Raw, setting up his angle. Reality Era! Not bad, but the "worked shoot" things are starting to wear thing.

As for my take on Monday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. I wasn't watching WCW then, so I can't compare, but I really think people are overreacting on this. Give  the angle more time to play out and see what it does for the participants involved before deciding whether or not it's bad. A stale, older Hulk Hogan turning heel gave us the nWo. A green somewhat generic wrestler went 173-0 and was one of the hottest things in wrestling. A rapping, dancing midcarder who's almost 40 turned heel and is one of the best things in wrestling now. Miz and Mark Henry weren't fired when a lot of people wanted them to be, and they're pretty good now as well. Point being, there are a lot of times when something looks and seems bad but ends up being a good thing in the long run.

More along this vein and the rest of the day's news and questions after the break.

2. Surely the look at the ratings info. But they've been in the business a long time and know that it's a marathon and not a sprint, so they're likely waiting to see how all of the indicators are when the angle is further along and they achieve whatever it is they're trying to achieve. If it ends up being bad when it's over, then that's another story. But we're not there yet.

3. Who's to say they won't walk out under him as well? So far, though, announcers aren't going through tables, referees aren't being hit, and he isn't getting physically involved with wrestlers (contracted or otherwise). I suppose to some degree some of the other things are part of being a wrestler, but those specific gripes don't hold true with the new authority figure yet. They're at least giving him a chance to be different.

4. Oh boy. He beat C.M. Punk after multiple Pedigrees, and interference by The Miz, R-Truth, and Kevin Nash. In a match that went a pretty good length. How that gets turned into him running roughshod over the roster is beyond me. The more outlandish these claims/questions get, the less seriously I'm taking them. Punk's a bigger star than Orton, Cena, Mysterio, and Batista? Yes, I'd have to say you stand a fair chance of being crazy.

5. This one I might actually partially agree with. I don't think anyone "gets" the relationship between WWE and Ross. I don't see all the political metaphors as playing much of a factor into it, unless people are much more emotionally invested in wrestling than I initially thought (and these questions are making me think that).

Is it safe to move on now?

The original finish for Bound For Glory was going to be Bobby Roode winning the TNA Championship, but Hulk Hogan successfully lobbied for that to be changed, since he felt that Roode wasn't ready for a run with it. Of course, he took a similar stance in an interview recently, but that was "just a work to match his heel character". Wink wink, nudge, nudge. I agree that Roode's not ready for that level of a push, but that's not the most popular opinion right now. A number of long-time TNA employees were upset at that change and the PPV in general. It's sad that there isn't another strong company that some of the talented workers there could switch over to, with WWE already quite crowded and unable to use everyone they'd like to effectively.

Update: Hogan made a number of comments about the situation. I'll believe it when I see it.

WWE will announce its 2011 Q3 earnings on 11/3. Expect the numbers to be spun negatively and/or mostly  ignored by outside websites if they're good, and heavily featured if they're not as good as they have been in the past. Bad news sells!

TNA is advertising Abyss vs. Scott Steiner, and Tara/Brooke Tessmacher vs. Winter/Angelina Love in addition to to fallout from the major Bound For Glory angles. I'm interested to see where they'll go after such a trainwreck of a show.

Here's footage of Triple H announcing Mil Mascaras for the WWE Hall of Fame.

WWE's next voteable show idea is a reality show with a number of Legends living in the same house. Not
sure about whether I'd watch that one.

Heath Slater has been suspended for 30 days after violating the Wellness policy. I hate when this happens. It's just bad for everyone all around. Hopefully this is the first and only time.

Bret Hart was interviewed. His current relationship with WWE was discussed. Glad people are moving on from the Screwjob (well, at least those involved are).

Hardcore Holly is working on an autobiography. Could very well be pretty interesting.

Update: Here's a story on it. I'm already kind of  hooked.

More quotes have been released about Scott Hall ahead of the "E:60" episode on him. Vince McMahon, Stephanie McMahon, Hulk Hogan, and Cody Rhodes commented. Very sad story.

Kurt Angle is taking time off to heal his hamstring. Glad he's not just trying to work through something that could lead to greater injury.

Alex Riley is also taking a few days off after getting an MRI on his hip. Hopefully he comes back well also.

Smackdown pulled in a 2.26 rating with over 3 million viewers. Very impressive for it lately. WWE's quest of rebuilding business continues.

That's all for Monday's news. More to come later today. Thanks for reading!
