WWE Hell in a Cell preview

Tonight's a pretty big night for WWE, with one of their most storied specialty matches being put in center stage. Hell in a Cell will be the battleground for Mark Henry vs. Randy Orton and John Cena vs. C.M. Punk vs. Alberto Del Rio. There are also grudge matches on the card. Read on for how I'd book the show.

First off, I'm a tad concerned about there only being 5 matches on the show. I think there should be at least one, maybe two more. I'll start with the hypothetical 7th match before going with my my first choice to round out the card:

Triple H forces Cody Rhodes to defend his Intercontinental Championship for the 3rd time in a week, this time against Ted DiBiase. Rhodes is understandably pretty upset at this, and competes under protest again. DiBiase's comparably fresh since he hasn't had big title matches lately, and puts up a good fight before Rhodes is able to put him away. This match is added to his list of complaints in his legal battle.

As for my first choice as a bonus match, Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger would team with Zack Ryder and a "mystery opponent", who ends up being Ryder's new "Welsh broski", Mason Ryan. We get a chance to see what Mason can do in this one, and his opponents get frustrated. Ziggler "gets something in his eye", then "inadvertently" shoves Swagger into Mason. Mason hits Swagger with the Black Hole Slam-like move he did on Raw, which I personally think they should call Code of the Mason. Ziggler recovers enough to pull Mason's leg from ringside to break up the cover. He then lures Mason out of the ring. As Swagger's watching this, Ryder comes in and catches him by surprise with the Rough Ryder for the win. Ziggler and Swagger then add the following complaints to their collective lawsuit: competing in a match when they didn't know who one of their opponents was going to be, being made to compete while "injured" (Ziggler having something in his eye), and they can even throw in that Ryder wasn't the legal man when he made the pin. As you might can tell, I think the lawsuit angle has potential to be pretty big, so I'm adding to it.

Beth Phoenix finally beats Kelly Kelly, even if Natalya holds Kelly down from the apron. After the match, while Beth celebrates with the title, Natalya puts Kelly in the Sharpshooter and refuses to let go. Beth keeps Eve from getting involved by threatening to hit her with the Divas' Title. They leave when they decide to, rather than when the referees tell them to. Eventually, they give the Divas' Title a makeover. Eve looks to avenge her friend as the next challenger. Kelly takes some time off from competing while she's in a cast. We see more fire from Eve, who shows off her jiujitsu training.

Sheamus beats Christian, who of course wants one more match to prove that he can beat him. Not really much to add to that one.

The heel Sin Cara, who comes out to a more "dark" remix of the original entrance music, wins when he puts his old blue mask on his opponent's head backwards, basically blinding him. He has his way with him, running him into the ringpost and such before finishing him off with whatever he calls his finisher. He wants that match to settle it and for him to be the only Sin Cara, but they face off again at the next PPV before settling everything at Survivor Series in a mask vs. mask match (at which point the heel Sin Cara would lose and get his own identity).

Randy Orton uses the environment to his advantage and puts up a fight, but Mark Henry's a dangerous man in HIAC and is able to beat him. Both men come out of it in bandages and don't compete for a week. Orton feels that got "that close" to winning and wants a rematch to get the job done. It's granted by Triple H for the next PPV.

Cena, Del Rio, and Punk close the show, and show that HIAC isn't all about weapons and blood and falling through things. Hell of a wrestling match leading to Cena having Del Rio in the STF. It looks like Del Rio's going to tap when... the cell starts lifting up. Cena loosens the hold when he notices this and the referee looks as well. Sure enough, it's going back towards the ceiling. Punk's pretty ticked at this too (from outside the ring). Nash, Miz, and R-Truth are spotted in the crowd, and they make it past security by showing off some kind of passes or something they could have only gotten from someone "on the inside".

As Ricardo Rodriguez slips Del Rio to safety, a battered Punk and Cena challenge the invaders. It's 3-on-2 against people who were just in a grueling match, so the fresher men get the advantage. HHH's music hits and he comes to the ring with a sledgehammer and a number of face WWE superstars in tow. The three men quickly get in some parting shots then bail. The show ends with HHH pointing his sledgehammer at them.

And that's what I'd do to move the stories along. I'll be back later to cover how the show actually goes down. Thanks for reading!
