Ronda Rousey talked about wanting to return to a WWE ring on Roddy Piper's podcast. Rock/Rousey vs. The Authority at WM31 would be huge! After all, Triple H needs to get his heat back.
An edition of Jim Ross' one man show could be coming to the WWE Network. I hope he maximizes his minutes and makes the most of his opportunity. I'd definitely like to see Good Ol' JR back in WWE in some capacity.
Paige is being sold as being out of competition for the foreseeable future, as she's off to be part of a WWE film. Hopefully her loss is Charlotte's gain.
Everything else from yesterday is after the break.
The Briscoes have signed new two-year deals with ROH, ending speculation they'll be going to WWE. They would essentially be required to end their businesses in Delaware in order to work out at NXT in Florida full-time, and it could have been a while before they made it to the main roster (if they did at all). Some are saying WWE should have offered them a main roster deal instead. I disagree. No team is that good, and WWE would definitely have to mold them to some degree. They could have been working NXT for a while.
Daniel Bryan has been removed from WWE's European tour due to concerns over his health, particularly issues with his elbow. I can see why they didn't want to use him in a major role at WM31 for that reason. I hope he gets everything on track to be the guy he should have been in 2014.
Ricky Steamboat addressed his son's wrestling future. I would have loved to have seen a stable of Steamboat, Cody Rhodes, and Charlotte. Or at least Charlotte paired with Steamboat. It's a real shame we'll never see him on the main roster.
WWE is set to tape Mick Foley's one man show next week for the WWE Network. I wonder if he'll have a cameo on NXT to sell it, since he'll be performing it at Full Sail Live?
A German cook was guest timekeeper at a recent WWE live event there. He didn't hit anyone in the head with a frying pan? Come on, WWE.
An NFL player discussed NXT's Mojo Rawley and more. Hopefully we see something more impressive out of Mojo this time. He was clearly still finding his footing during his last run.
TNA's John Gaburick confirmed Taz's departure from the company. As far as I know, there's no truth to the rumor of Taz saying Gaburick was about to become just another victim or that the mood was about to change. It's probably for the best for both sides. TNA could use a new voice at the announce desk, and Taz could use something new to do. GFW and HoH should consider him as an option, and I'd love to see him be part of a Brock Lesnar documentary or something. A Hall of Fame induction should be coming up for him, too.
Update: Taz commented as well. I think HoH or someone has got to book Taz calling a Velvet Sky match now that they're both gone from TNA.
Update: Dixie Carter also said goodbye. Fans are already asking for Don West to return. I'm under the impression he's happy doing what he does now, but I think he'd be a good choice for the TNA diehards. TNA will likely just use someone they already have under contract, though. They need to run a tight ship.
Finn Balor beat Adam Rose at a recent live event, and Tamina returned to action on the losing end of a six-Divas tag match. I'm curious to see what they do with Tamina now.
For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. Violence from men against women would be really tough to justify from a family-friendly company. Even if it's taking an F5 from BRRRRROOOOCCCCKKKK LLLLLEEEESSSSSSNNNNNAAAAAARRRR, I don't see any way they do it. If they did, it would get them a lot of flak.
2. Today in "wishful thinking"! No, there was a definite breakdown in communication. It's not like he's never going to be back in WWE, but the two sides aren't working together for some big projects.
3. Steiner has a long history of those kinds of incidents. As fun as his promos are, he's not someone I'd want to run afoul of.
4. There's pretty much always going to be that problem. There's rarely a perfect time to run.
5. I think in some ways that's a valid concern. No one is perfect. I definitely think knowing about all these other wrestling promotions, how things were in the '90s, etc. makes it a lot harder for WWE to win someone over. More people should keep that in mind.
More wrestling tomorrow.
