Tough Enough got 1.21 million viewers in its first week. That's really down from the 2011 version. I'm not sure what exactly that says about WWE in 2015, but it's definitely not a positive.
Jeff Jarrett posted a video about his TNA return. I assume this is just something to give him a big send-off and put him in the TNA Hall of Fame, but it's still a pleasant surprise. How many of the people he was talking to backstage will end up working for him by the end of the year?
ROH will have a tournament to declare the new #1 Contender to the TV Championship. The opening round matches, leading to an elimination match in the final, are:
- Christopher Daniels vs. Mark Briscoe
- Matt Taven vs. Bobby Fish
- Frankie Kazarian vs. ACH.
Lethal vs. the other Briscoe would make sense. Most of those guys are in tag teams anyway...
Everything else from yesterday is after the break.
Set for TNA Slammiversary:
- King of the Mountain match featuring Jeff Jarrett
- Lashley/Mr. Anderson vs. Ethan Carter III/Tyrus
- Unsanctioned match between James Storm and Magnus
- Robbie E vs. Jessie Godderz
- Bram vs. Matt Morgan
- Austin Aries vs. Davey Richards to determine the stipulation for the final match in the tag team title series.
- Awesome Kong/Brooke Tessmacher vs. The Dollhouse
I'm looking forward to the show. It's not as stacked as their second-biggest show of the year should be, but it's not too shabby.
For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. Punk ripping Hogan is always fun, but I can definitely buy into the notion of it being too much to threaten "wrecking" him. I have "X-Pac heat" for Hogan, but I don't think someone should actually physically assault him.
2. GFW drawing money in a minor league baseball stadium is better than losing money in other venues. I saw these shows as trying some things out before the TV tapings. I do think GFW will differ from WWE and TNA given the territory system approach he seems to be aiming for. It's just going to take time for things to get off the ground.
3. I totally saw it as a tribute to the Dusty finish. They certainly weren't going to have Paige leave with the title either way.
4. Brock being WWE Champion made every title match important, because you only saw a few of them. It's a pretty basic "supply and demand" kind of thing. Would the Super Bowl be as important if it was held every month? It's similar here, although just having one title match a year would obviously be stretching it.
5. Chyna has a VERY small chance of going in, at least in these next few years. She's probably about as likely to go in the Hall as she is to be killed by lightning.
More wrestling tomorrow.
