WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes passes away

I've only really seen Dusty since he was a booker in TNA about a decade ago. I've since seen some of his classic material and read about what an impact he's had on things. Of course, I've also seen his appearances in WWE since he returned there. Definitely a really compelling promo man with a real mind for the business. He's one of the most influential men in the history of the business, and he leaves behind an incredible legacy. It's very sad for him to be gone when he still had a regular role behind-the-scenes in WWE.

Read on for reflections from those in the business.
WWE.com broke the news with an official statement. I'm going to go out on a limb and say they're going to make an updated version of his DVD boxset from 2006 to honor his legacy. At least, they should.

Here's a collection of many wrestlers responding to his death via social media. He was still molding people's careers in 2015.

Ric Flair issued a statement to TMZ. You can't tell the history of wrestling without talking about Flair vs. Dusty.

Here's a collection of mainstream publications covering Dusty's passing. WWE, TNA, and ROH all ran stories on it.

Kevin Owens wrote a longer blog on Dusty's passing. It's great that even someone who had his level of experience still learned something from The Dream.

The Rock revealed Dusty Rhodes inspiring the People's Elbow. I don't think I made that connection before now.

Sami Zayn gave his memories on working with Dusty. I agree about promos not needing to be a bunch of yelling most of the time. You have a microphone. People will hear you. Anyway, great read about Dusty the teacher.

JR and Scott Stanford did a segment on Rhodes' passing on the New York news station where Stanford works.

More wrestling coming up.

Day 2:

Jim Ross talked to AP and Fox Sports, as well as doing a blog at his own website.

CNN, and ESPN (with Jonathan Coachman) also talked about his passing.

WWE Network will run a special on Dusty Rhodes following Raw, featuring new interviews. I'd be surprised if they're not working on a re-release of his 2006 DVD.

Goldust commented on his Facebook page. I can only imagine what he and Cody are going through right now.

Tully Blanchard remembered his old rival.

Here's another list of people around the business talking about the American Dream. Great memories.

More wrestling coming up.
