Dixie Carter made a reference to the typhoon heading to Japan in promoting Bound For Glory, specifically James Storm coming there. She since deleted the Tweet and apologized. There's being a heel, and there's exploiting a natural disaster to promote a wrestling event. That really was a boneheaded move on the part of the company president, and could really hurt the company's image at a time when things already look bad for them. I am glad she apologized, but the damage could already be done.
Taz referred to The Dynamite Kid as "late" on commentary for Bound For Glory. Dynamite Kid is actually still alive. I'm willing to give Taz the benefit of the doubt on that one, as Kid has really been out of the spotlight.
As was mentioned, TNA cut out part of Team 3D's post-match promo from Bound For Glory. The team challenged NJPW's Bullet Club. That would be quite the rivalry. Maybe we see it in Jeff Jarrett's GFW?
Everything else from yesterday is after the break.
Bret Hart and Earl Hebner made amends at a live event. I think Earl was just in the wrong place at the wrong time as far as the Screwjob goes. He didn't orchestrate it or anything. I believe the two of them had made up some years back, but this was a public appearance for the two of them together.
Vickie Guerrero turned down appearing at the 15th anniversary of Smackdown due to commitments at her new job. That's very professional of her to put her current career ahead of what she did in WWE.
Brad Maddox worked some recent WWE live events after an extended absence, losing to Zack Ryder and The Great Khali in separate matches. I'm glad he got some work. I think I'd like for him to return as a face authority figure once the current angle with HHH/Steph/Kane at the top concludes. It would make sense given his firing.
Noelle Foley is now training to become a wrestler. I hope she has a successful career. Noelle vs. Charlotte and Noelle vs. Natalya are natural feuds if she makes it to WWE.
Former territory star "Cowboy" Bob Kelly has passed away. That era gets further and further in the past, and the greats who made it work keep fading away. It's sad.
"Raw Backstage Pass" has returned to WWE Network after disappearing for a number of weeks. I'm not entirely sure why it was cut.
WWE got some positive press for their attendance in Malaysia. I'm glad it was such a success.
For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. JR was an easy scapegoat for the whole ordeal. It wouldn't surprise me if WWE just used that as an excuse to cut someone they were planning on putting out to pasture anyway. Vince has an odd relationship with JR, to say the least.
2. WWE does give some other names chances to get over, but ultimately it seems to always go back to Cena, Orton, Big Show, etc. at the top of the card. I wish other names would stick around as main eventers.
3. Cena's definitely pretty well protected as far as "clean" losses go, which is what made the victory by Lesnar so refreshing. Hopefully Cena continues to show vulnerability as WWE welcomes in a new era of stars.
4. I'd love to see it! Angle's in talks with WWE, so it just might happen.
5. There's definitely an extremist fringe of the WWE audience who make the show about themselves. It's also much easier to boo Cena or say he sucks than to chant something about how Vince should push new guys or something. Cena's a pretty talented performer (promos generally aside). It's just that we see him in big match situations SO MUCH.
More wrestling tomorrow.
