Main Event:
I have no clue what I watched in that opening segment. It reminded me of early seasons of NXT. I hope it was effective in hyping the tag team title match, because it was pretty out there.
I really enjoy Tyson Kidd as a heel these days. This has been great. I liked this match, and hope it means more for Tyson in the future. If WWE really wanted to, they could have Darren Young return to defend Natalya and feud with Tyson.
I love Bo Dallas as a heel. I hope he rides this really far. Future U.S. or IC Champion?
I'm not sure if it really did anything for anyone to have Big E win. I like Big E, but if there's no followup for his win, it seems a bit pointless for him to beat someone with consistent screen and promo time.
Really good main event. Rollins and Swagger worked together very well, and those on the outside of the ring were incorporated well.
Everything else from yesterday is after the break.
After Raw, Hulk Hogan promoted several HIAC matches on Raw Backstage Pass and posed in the ring with John Cena.
Lashley vs. Bobby Roode for the TNA Championship will headline next week's Impact Wrestling. That should be quite the match. TNA's mostly been good lately.
Set for this week's NXT:
- Adrian Neville vs. Titus O'Neill
- The Ascension vs. Jason Jordan and Tye Dillinger
- Tyler Breeze vs. CJ Parker
- The Vaudevillains vs. Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy
- Sasha Banks vs. Bayley
I look forward to that show.
Seth Rollins will be at the next NXT taping. That will be cool. I'd love to see the former NXT Champion meet the current one, but they really need to protect the MITB holder.
WWE Slam City will be airing on Nicktoons in the NickSports block. WWE's probably quite glad to get TV clearance for it.
Jake Roberts underwent an MRI recently and has another scheduled for a few weeks from now. I hope he continues to get good news.
WWE Network is advertised as launching in the UK on November 1. That's a big step for the company.
Stephanie McMahon talked about The Authority and more. She's really good at PR answers.
Raw got 3.70 million viewers Monday night, the second-lowest mark of 2014. Ratings are in something of a slump these days as several top names are either on the shelf or on a part-time schedule. No Bryan, no Reigns, no BROCK LESNAR, no Jericho, etc. could be what's taking its toll.
WWE might be bringing former NWA Champion Adam Pearce to replace Nick Dinsmore at NXT. It's weird to think he's only 36 and they're considering him for that role instead of being used a wrestler. I hope he's a good fit.
DGUSA star Uhaa Nation received a tryout in WWE. That's a name I've seen thrown around as someone WWE should take a look at, so I hope things work out for us to see him on a big stage in the U.S..
Chris Jericho talked about his recent book. The feud with Shawn Michaels was absolutely amazing, and the book itself (like Jericho's earlier stuff) has been heavily praised.
For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. I do think WWE has lost some really talented performers through layoffs and other means (Punk, Del Rio). I also think there are still a LOT of talented people still in the company (and in NXT). I don't think there will be too big of a ripple effect, but I do think it's hurt them in some ways.
2. I'm not sure where the news of his contract ending in February comes from, as he said in an interview not too long back he has roughly two more years in TNA. I do know he puts a high value on the freedom he has in TNA and being able to be a dad. If TNA can't pay him and he has to leave because of that, I think WWE would consider bringing him back. I wouldn't be surprised for him to have one last big run there, possibly alongside Matt. But right now, he's definitely a TNA guy for the foreseeable future.
3. I definitely want more variety on the roster we seen on the main shows. WWE, however, is reluctant to take risks with featuring new talents at times.
4. WWE's apparently building to something with the three of them splitting and some other kind of change in the characters with the "It's Coming" stuff. There've been consistent promos for the new direction, so it's not like they totally disappeared. They're just in something of a transition phase. I hope it turns out well for everyone involved.
5. I absolutely think there's something to the argument of fans being impatient and not sitting through for something to pay off. I also think if built right fans will pop for a big showdown that has been built for a while.
More wrestling tomorrow.
